【摘要】:ThispartofISO20776describesonereferencemethod,brothmicrodilution,fordeterminationofMICs.TheMICreflectstheactivityofthedrugunderthedescribedtestconditions,andcanbeinterpretedforclinicalmanagementpurposesbytakingintoaccountotherfactors,suchasdrugpharmacologyorbacterialresistancemechanisms.Thisallowscategorizationofbacteriaas"susceptible"(S),"intermediate"(I),or"resistant"(R).Inaddition,MICdistributionscanbeusedtodefinewildtypeornon-wildtypebacterialpopulations.AlthoughclinicalinterpretationoftheMICvalueisbeyondthescopeofthispartofISO20776,Amodificationsofthebasicmethodarerequiredforcertainantimicrobialagent-bacteriacombinationstofacilitateclinicalinterpretation.Thesemodificationsareincludedinaseparatetable.Itisadvisabletocompareothersusceptibilitytestingmethods(e.g.routinemethodsordiagnostictestdevices)withthisreferencemethodforvalidation,inordertoensurecomparableandreliableresults.
